Save the date for next meeting of the Art & Class Discussion Club:
4pm on Saturday, May 10
13th Avenue in East Oakland
Exact location details will be sent closer to the date. Thanks very much to Kathy Sloane for hosting. We’ll be in the same neighborhood as Random Parts (the location of our last meeting) so we can continue the conversation about gentrification and art in medias res AND get a peek at artist Chip Thomas at work in the area as part of his partnership and upcoming exhibition with Random Parts.
We are still using Rebecca Solnit’s A Paradise Built in Hell: The Extraordinary Communities that Arise in Disaster as a starting point and can continue conversations inspired by previous reads:
- Grant Kester’s The One and the Many: Contemporary Collaborative Art in a Global Context (Chapter One)
- Ben Davis’s 9.5 Theses on Art & Class
