It will be more beautiful than you could ever imagine. Take chances. Make more friends. The sky is the limit. These are the unabashedly brave and buoyant messages left to us by artist and curator Susan O’Malley who passed away suddenly last month.

For those who knew her and now miss her, there is little wondering what she might say. Her artwork proves to be an extraordinary example of the gift that keeps on giving. I knew her mostly through her signs, a couple generous emails once upon a time, and a few wonderful colleagues in common. The sum of her work–her art work and her work relationships–demonstrate an exquisitely beautiful and powerful kind of world making. My heart breaks and grows at once.

Susan was memorialized beautifully by her close friends Christine Wong Yap here and Christian L. Frock here. A memorial website in her honor is located here. Hug yourself and hug a friend. You are exactly where you need to be.
